Dr Daniel Wong is currently heading the Waste-to-Resource Department in Sembcorp’s Group Center of Excellence.
Dr Wong has over 20 years of professional experience in the waste management industry, with 14 years of his career spent working in China’s waste industry since the early 2000s. Prior to Sembcorp, he worked for leading waste management companies such as Cleanaway, Veolia and Keppel Seghers.
Dr Wong’s operational experience is based on his personal involvement in different aspects of the waste management industry, such as management of landfills, biogas capture and utilisation, waste incineration and energy recovery, hazardous waste management, battery recycling and monetisation of carbon credits from Energy from Waste, and Landfill gas capture.
Currently, Dr Wong’s role in Sembcorp is focused on the conversion of waste into low-carbon renewable chemicals, sustainable aviation fuels and other waste-to-resource applications.
Dr Wong holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and started work as a geotechnical engineer but was drawn into the exciting world of the Waste Management Industry in the early years of his career.
