An active advocate of industry transformation efforts, Mr Tony Chooi is passionate and committed to contributing to the growth and professionalisation of the cleaning industry, and also the fair treatment of frontline staff. To this end, he joined Environmental Management Association of Singapore (EMAS) and was first elected into the EMAS executive committee in 2013. In 2015, he was re-elected and appointed as its Honorary Secretary, and in 2017, as its Honorary Treasurer. In 2019, he was elected as EMAS President. In 2021, he was re-elected as EMAS President.
Mr Chooi has been with the BNL group of companies, a service provider of contract cleaning, waste management and landscape maintenance services, since 2000. As a director, he manages the operational and commercial aspects of the cleaning and waste management activities in the group.
Presently, Mr Chooi is representing EMAS and is contributing to the following external workgroup and committees: Deputy Chairperson of the Cleaning Sectorial Tripartite Committee; member of the Tripartite Cluster for Cleaners; and member of the Public Hygiene Council (since 2017).
