Mr Wang Tianyi is the Chairman of the Board of China Everbright Environment Group Limited. In addition, he is currently a Co-Director of the Center for Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) of Tsinghua University and a part-time professor of Tsinghua University. Mr Wang is also a member of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, a member of International Coalition for Green Development on the Belt and Road Advisory Board, a Vice Chairman of China Ecological Civilisation Research and Promotion Association, a Vice Chairman of Industrial and Academic Union of Ecological Environment of the China Association for Science and Technology, and a member of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) PPP Business Advisory Board. Mr Wang has been awarded “Asia’s Best CEO” for four consecutive years by multiple internationally authoritative institutions. In 2020, he was awarded the “2018-2019 Green China Person of the Year”, which was jointly granted by six domestic government authorities, including the Environmental Protection and Resources Conservation Committee under the National People’s Congress of China, the Population, Resources and Environment Committee under the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China.
Mr Wang holds a doctorate degree in economics, a master's degree in management and a bachelor's degree in electronics from Tsinghua University. From 2018 to 2021, he was CEO of China Everbright Environment Group. Before that, he was the Executive Director and General Manager of China Everbright International Limited (now known as “China Everbright Environment Group”) from 2010 to 2017. He was also a member of the Mainland Business Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council from 2012 to 2016. Prior to the above-mentioned roles, Mr Wang was the Dean of Shandong Academy of Sciences from 2008 to 2009, and the Deputy Mayor of Ji’nan City of Shandong Province from 2000 to 2007. Between 1988 and 2000, he had been the Vice President, and the Dean and Professor of the School of Economics and Management of Yantai University of Shandong Province. Mr Wang participated in an advanced training programme on public administration at Harvard University in 2002 and also pursued advanced studies as a visiting scholar at universities in California, the USA, from 1997 to 1998.
