Clean Environment Leaders Summit Plenary 2

#ICYMI The Clean Environment Leaders Summit assembled an esteemed line-up of panellists for Plenary 2 to discuss how cities in Asia Pacific must embrace circularity to achieve resource resilience.
Moderated by Mr Frederick Teo, Managing Director, Sustainable Solutions, Temasek, the session kicked off with opening remarks by Ms Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary, United Nations Economic and Social Council for Asia and the Pacific. They were joined by Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and Ministry of Transport, Singapore; Mr Robert Metzke, Global Head of Sustainability, Philips; Dr Wang Tianyi, Chairman, China Everbright Environment Group Limited; Mr Yutaka Shoda, Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs, Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan; and Prof Seeram Ramakrishna, Circular Economy Taskforce Chair and Director, Center for Nanotechnology and Sustainability, National University of Singapore.
The panel discussed how COVID-19 highlighted the importance of resource resiliency and circularity due to supply chain disruptions. As a result, the sharing of innovative solutions and ideas between cities through platforms like #CESG2022 are even more crucial on the journey to be resource resilient. This international cooperation is crucial for Asia and will be beneficial for the world at large.
The panel agreed that, ultimately, the responsibility of a truly resource resilient city lies within a continuous process of education and engagement between governments, industries and local communities.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing
#ICYMI: StartupX , in partnership with the National Environment Agency (NEA) and Enterprise Singapore, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with corporate partners SembWaste, Circulate Capital and The Incubation Network.

How can the productivity of toilet cleaning be improved? Advancer Smart Technology Pte Ltd has integrated functions such as cubicle and toilet roll availability detection, humidity and temperature sensors, vortex flushing water closets, and more! The Smart Toilet Technologies initiative was supported by the National Environment Agency (NEA)’s Productivity Solutions Grant.
Spotted at today's NEA Innovation Pavilion during the #CESG Innovation Showcase & Pitch: Prof Jeff Obbard (Head, Climate Impacts) from the National Environment Agency (NEA) Centre for Climate Research Singapore, showcased their progress on the Third National Climate Change Study for Singapore (V3), which will provide localised and high-resolution climate projections for Singapore and the region.
The projections are derived from the latest climate models used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Time Capsule Sealing Ceremony
Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Singapore, toured the #CESG2022 Environment Expo at the Marina Bay Sands. Together with Mr Luke Goh, Chief Executive Officer of the National Environment Agency (NEA), Singapore, and Mr Ng Joo Hee, Chief Executive of PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency, she officiated the Time Capsule Sealing Ceremony at the Tuas Nexus exhibition booth.
She also spoke to our sponsors and exhibitors from various booths, as they
shared the latest development in environmental technologies and solutions.
Event Opening
Ms Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment,
opened #CESG2022 and #SIWW2022 at the Marina Bay Sands today.
She reaffirmed Singapore's commitment in tackling climate change, by
advancing our sustainability agenda through the Singapore Green Plan
2030. She also spoke about how Singapore will continue to leverage
global innovations to enhance sustainability and climate resilience, and
international events such as #CESG and #SIWW play an important role in
bringing together governments, academia, and industry to exchange ideas and co-create solutions.
